  This redwood tree swing has been sealed in waterproof, epoxy resin with a UV resistant finish, (we’ve used the same finishing process utilized for boat decks!), to ensure that your new tree swing will stand up to the elements.

~ Burnt Wood Accents ~

   The redwood swing seat has honeycomb & tiny bees that have been burnt into the woodgrain by hand rather than using laser engraving. All accents on the swing seat are done freehand, (no stencils used here).

   Taking the time to do all of the wood burned accents by hand allows for each board to be individually evaluated so that the design can best compliment the knots & woodgrain within the swing seat, making each of our redwood tree swings truly one of a kind.

~ Finishing Process ~

   Our finishing process is just one of the factors that puts this tree swing a step above the rest. Our swing seats are sealed using the same process utilized for sealing boat decks! While this process takes a staggering amount of time, it also ensures that your new tree swing will stand up to the elements. (The tree swing, pictured here, had been hanging outside for over a year at the time its photos were taken.)

  Most tree swing seats are sealed using a polyurethane coating…This swing seat has been completely sealed in multiple layers of waterproof, UV resistant, two-part epoxy, resin & finally finished with two layers of UV resistant, two-part polyurethane.

*You may notice small cracks in the redwood on some of our swing seats. These fractured boards have been intentionally chosen to add to the aged aesthetic of the swing. The cracks have been filled with epoxy to create a rustic look without compromising the integrity of the swing seats. 

~ Rope ~

   Made with 1” Pro-Manila rope that has a working load limit of 1070lbs per side. The rope we use is UV resistant, rot & mildew resistant, chemical resistant & won’t stretch or shrink when wet. Most importantly, Pro-Manila rope is smoother to the touch & stronger than natural rope while still maintaining the aesthetic of old fashioned Manila or jute rope.

   The tassels on the bottom of the swing seat have been left longer. If you prefer shorter tassels, you can trim them to your desired length.

How do I hang my tree swing?

   We recommend using a swing hitch knot with a stopper knot added, as this will keep the rope from rubbing on the branch when the swing is in use. You can find our guide on how to tie a swing hitch knot, included in the photos here. Instructions are also included on paper, with your tree swing.
   If you prefer a different method, a quick google search will provide an endless amount of options for securing your new tree swing to the branch.

Tips ~

• Choose a healthy branch that is at least 8” in diameter.
• You'll want to hang your swing at least 3-5 feet away from the trunk of the tree.
• The swing pictured here is hung about 2 feet off the ground but ideal height will vary, person to person. 
• Look for a branch that is high enough to swing under & as horizontal as possible. For even swinging, both ropes should be a similar length.
• We like to wrap any extra rope leftover, after fastening the knots, around the tree branch. 

Hanging your new swing on the porch, patio or indoors?

   If you will be hanging your new swing somewhere other than a tree, you will need to acquire some swing hanging hardware or a kit. These are fairly inexpensive & can be found easily online. The type of kit or hardware you will want may vary, depending on where you plan to hang your swing.

*When selecting your hardware, keep in mind that it needs to be compatible with 1” thick rope.

How do I know what length of rope to choose?

   Measure the approximate distance from your branch to the ground. Then add an additional 7 - 10 feet. This is how much rope you will need per side.

(i.e. if your branch is 10 feet from the ground + an additional 7 - 10 feet of rope, you would select 20 feet of rope per side.)

We recommend adding an additional 7 - 10 feet of rope per side because we use thicker rope than most tree swings so it takes a bit more to securely tie your tree swing onto the branch. Other factors, like how thick the branch you will be tying the rope around is, can also effect how much rope you will need. Remember, too much rope is better than not enough.

*If you’re hanging your new tree swing on a porch, patio or indoors, we recommend adding an additional 4 - 5 feet per side, rather than 7 - 10 feet. This is because you won’t be wrapping the rope around a branch, so you wont need as much additional rope for fastening the swing at the top.

Do you offer custom engraving?

   Due to the extensive finish & length of time required to properly seal & waterproof our redwood tree swing seats, we do not offer custom engraving.
